#2 and #4 miss fire codes

Hi, I have a 2005 four cylinder car. I have a miss fire code on #2 cylinder. Checking with a scanner the code comes and goes. When code was there, I did a compression test. After the compression test the code switched to #4 cylinder only.

For now, I just wanted to know how #2 and #4 cylinder miss fire codes could be connected on an engine? I heard #2 and #4 are at tdc at the same time could that be the only reason, code goes back and forth?

Thanks for any help

Usually 1 and 4 are paired, and 2 and 3 are paired as well so not sure how 2 and 4 are giving the same code. It could be a coil pack issue, if the epoxy is deteriorating it may be allowing moisture in corroding the leads inside. All of that is just speculation though, until we know what the car is-

I had a #2 misfire code. So I did a (running) compression test. While doing the compression test the code was longer there. Now I have a open injector circuit code on #4. Why would I loose the #2 misfire code while doing a compression test? What causes an open injector code?
