On way RV show today, tow/haul starts flashing. On way home, still flashing, also have check engine light now too with a P0713 code. I noticed also the guage on dash for tranny temp isnt moved. I checked SGII and it said TFT was 8135 degress? It def wasnt shifting too well but i got it home and its in garage and i need some help on what this may be.
I had the same thing happen to me. all you need to a new sensor and oil. pan gasket and the screen filter are reusable. no need to waste money on those parts. you should also replace the inline filter by the radiator.

When the PCM sees TFT That High it goes Into Limp Mode
Normaly change temp sender inspect harness and problem solved
Watch the TFT As truck Comes to Normal Temp If it Jumps its Tempeture around And Normaly pretty Drastic Jumps Way High to Low F* then about a 99.5% chance Sensor is BAD
is ford the only place to get that tranny fluid mercon sp? no auto parts stores seemed to have it.
so is this a good time to change the fluid? how much more do i need to get and is a flush necessary to change fluid?

I use Valvoline atf with the lv/sp additive. just the back label. the hardest part is getting the inline filter apart. An impact gun works best.
They have many different types. just make sure it says mercon sp on the back label.
Recommended for use where DEXRON, DEXRON II, III and VI, Toyota T-IV and WS, MERCON®, MERCON® SP and LV, Allison TES 389, Nissan Matic-D, Matic-J and Matic-K, Honda Z-1 (except CVT), Mercedes NAG-1, Mitsubishi Diamond SP-II and SP-III and many others are required.
