Perhaps the computer might still believe the engine isn't fully
"warmed up" and you might have lower fuel mileage? That was my main reason for doing it but well see how much hotter it runs.
But running down the road 20 miles. ECT 188, EOT 198. How can my deltas be so far off now but in the summer within 3 deg ? I was told that operating temp. was 190 to 210. If I cant get to operating temp. how can I check them? I'm not trying to be argumentative I just thought the temps should be at-least in the 190s.
Flow through the oil cooler could be reduced when the thermostat is closed. 10 degrees isn't anything to worry about.
I guess as long as its not hurting anything, there are too many variables going on here right now.. the 6 degree temps in Boise, and a new FICM which I hear with the new flash already drops the MPG. I am getting about 2 less than I normally was.. I just got my SGII so I am trying to figure out what my truck is supposed to do and what it is doing. Thanks for all the help.
Courtney, my feelings are that $23 for a new OEM thermostat are well worth it. I have just received updated strategies for the PCM, TCM, and FICM. My truck is getting better fuel mileage, runs smoother and ECT is running closer to the magical 192*, but not quite there. 185*-189*.
Air temperature is 13*F here.
Well I will get one ordered up today then. I will have a chance to run it hard this weekend with a load on steep grade. I'll watch and see if it jumps up there then.
I also replaced my ECT & EOT sensors to make sure I was getting the proper readings. You don't need to do that, but it reassured me that I wasn't getting false readings. Now I have spare sensors!
What about the TFT sensor? That was seems to be off the most. Pretty easy change?
I haven't worried about mine. No towing until this summer for me. Hopefully someone jumps in and answers that for you. My temperature has never been above 160* so far.
