Do you guys recommend using a winter grill cover for our trucks? Does it really help except for when its really cold? I'm in Illinois and it does get cold, but not extremely cold.
I see lots of these newer diesel, all three brands running around here with those covers on as soon as it's cold out. It it really necessary?
Never saw the need to run one here in Michigan. Wouldn't work for me anyway plowing snow but none the less my operating temp is the same when running down the road as the summer time. Extended idle the cover could help.
I like your grill cover a lot. It looks better than the ones I've seen on the internet. What materials did you use? I was thinking about making my own also, but I don't want to drill into the grill or have snaps on it all year long. How did you fasten it?
Also, what temps are considered warm to be running with a grill cover?
We used Marine material. Its looks like fake leather. Currently i have 6 chrome ford grills at my shop. I just used snaps. And i love the zipper in the middle. We have a Marine Canvas guy who works at my shop. He said hed be willing to make some covers if enough people wanted them. What are they worth?

Reason: info
I just got one of the new fia covers for mine and the screw in snaps. I'm putting it on a spare grill I have. I am also making some kind of piece to block the bumper holes today too. My truck is sealed tight but when it was 18 degrees out yesterday morning the best I could get the interior temp up to was mid 50's. That sucked. My coolant would barely hold 160 running down the road with no cover on it. And yes I have a new motorcraft thermostat in it. I've tried 4 different ones now in the last month. even the 203 would not get any warmer.
