hey guys, im going together with some new body parts after a wreck.
when i put the truck together with all oem parts back in 06 i couldnt afford to buy new rad support bushings and made some by taking a hole saw to an old tire and stacking several layers in there. i thought that may have been the problem but its still going on. its always had a big gap between the cowl and fender.
i have a new lmc truck pass fender, inner fender and grille shell now and radiator support bushing kit.
first i got the hood lined up pretty nicely then put my fenders on. the drivers side(existing) lines up better than ever with the door. the passenger side didnt want to close the gap with the door(ive got it close enough so far) but i still can stick more than a finger in between the cowl and the fender. i thought for sure replacing all of that i wouldnt have that gap anymore.
the fender and door "dent" lines match up fine, the door fits well too and works great. i still can tighten the bottom fender bolt up a bunch and close the gap but then the lines will be off.
is something wrong with my cab/cowl?

heres what shes lookin like so far, i still have a lot of bolts to put in tho! that nice pretty fender sticks out on the dirty girl
No matter how much time you spend trying to line things up, these trucks weren't built to look pretty. I have some body alignment issues that I spent many hours trying to line up and I just settled for "good enough" because once I got one thing to look good, something else would look off. I've also seen trucks that look great with body lines. I will say though, unless you have original parts, the aftermarket body parts can be flawed. I've seen some pretty bad aftermarket parts, but I've seen some good ones.
Have you got room at the top of the door to lift it 1/8 to 1/4 , that would help a little . Then lift your fender up a little. The panels on my 73 don't line up as well as i would like but i'v decided to just live with it.
