A buddy came over to the house tonight seems he fell into a set of Eldebrock estreet heads in parts of a trade he worked out and will almost give them to me for my 351W I am building for my EB. I got all exited went on the eldbrock website and it clearly states that they are not compatible with a hydraulis roller cam.
I am going to call eldebrock monday but thought maybe someone here would know why and is there something i could do to use them?
I see the disclaimer about hydraulic roller camshafts. Perhaps it's because the lifters are taller, and they impinge on the undersides of the heads at full camshaft lobe lift.
It's hard to believe Edelbrock would make a head that's not compatable with the vast majority of engines it would potentially be installed on.. the roller cammed 5.0HO, so there has to be more to the story.

Maybe its an rpm/lift/float thing and they just dont want to publish a limitatation knowing people will ignore it.
A little searching over on the Mustang forums turned up all sorts of interesting threads on these heads. Apparently they'll work fine with stock roller cams or even relatively mild aftermarket cams... that is until the cheap as dirt supplied springs or retainers begin to break at as little as 500miles. Edelbrock says.. "what did you expect for $900 heads" and there are even engine builders agreeing with that assesment, but to me that's a load of garbage so it looks like these things should be avoided at all costs.

kind of silly isnt it? Not like eldbrock cant put good springs on it. they have performer heads that work with roller cams, there still something fishy about these heads huh?
I looked on the eldebrock website and they list hydraulic roller cams for use with these heads as part of their power packages but only when used on the SBC.
