Anyone... 69-70 Heads???????

Ok so I only have 2 questions this time... I ran into another ford guy that has some 69-70 ford heads and we might be doing a trade... I have that 351w rebuild from a 88 F-250 4x4.

1.) would the 69-70 heads be better than the stock? (E7's i think...) Are they direct replacements so I don't have to change my intake?(planning on doing headers as well)

2) I know I am beating a dead horse when I ask this but... I re-read the last posts on my build and the comp cam 35-225-5 didn't have the lifters with it, but there are extreme energy 4x4 kits that do... Just wanted to know what my best option is for a cam and lifter kit? Or buy them seperate..? Wanting to get as close as possible to that Crane 444232 as possible!

Thanks in advance guys!

The early heads may be better, the 302 version is not but the 351 heads have bigger valves. Both versions will likely require new rockers and pushrods as these heads use a different setup than the later heads. In both cases your intake is compatable.

Buy them seperate. the matching lifters are part # 832-16

If the 69-70 heads are the DOOE with the 60cc chambers they are decent heads in stock form , they would be better than the E7s , these heads were used alot in the early 5.0 mustang days with bigger valves , but with all the heads on the market today is not worth it to put alot of money in them , they will have stud mount rockers to ....Lew

cam 35-235-3 ($119.95) or 35-255-5 ($176.39)??? Ordering today and wanted to make sure all the part numbers are right... Would it be worth it for the extra $60???

If the heads aren't machined for guideplates and screw-in studs - i.e. they have stock press-in studs - you have to use rail/self aligning rockers and shouldn't run a cam with much more than ~.45" lift.
