Does anyone have a handy trick to time the crank and cam together without the special tool they want you to use? It looks to me like you could just make sure the cam timing mark was 180 degrees away from the crank instead of right on it it would work. But I don't want to do it twice.
Magnify the picture X200 to get your basic measurements. Pick up a Stanley framing square and cut it down, drill the hole and cut the notch with a dremmel tool, leave the extra length to put the 3/4 inch 90 degree drop down bends in it.
there is a hole in the cam gear that lines up with a hole in the block using a number 2 philips screw driver, than place crank into the block with the dowel pin lined up with the screwdriver.if the block is upside down(crank facing up) the dowl on the crank willbe located at 6 O'clock.real simple done this countles times.
Great find, thanks for that. I looked all over for this tool. Well actually just in OTC tools. It looks like you can get both installers for under $500.
Thanks so much that is just what I needed. Problem solved. Now to figure a way around the seal installers....But first I need to find a source for some rings today in so cal.
