I have a 2000 f150 lariat. Mo problem started about 2 weeks ago. Around town its fine but whhen I go over 50 mph it feels like I'm driving down the rumble strips on the highway and after a couple miles it just smoothes out and its fine! Yesterday I went on the interstate and it did the same but this time I ran up to 85 and the vibration stopped. I had another motor put in about 2 months ago, #4, and he changed my rear u joint as well. I replaced the rear passenger side wheel bearing a couple months ago but there seemed like a little play in the axle still but not bad. Help!!! Any ideas would be very appreciated as I've been to the dealer and a few other mechanics but it doesn't do it all the time and they couldn't find what is wrong.

start with getting the tires checked...& rebalanced. Then move on from there.
Where do feel the vibration....in the steering wheel?? or in the seat?
Steering wheel = front end.... In the seat = rear end

Its hard to tell. It feels just like driving down a rumble strip on the highway so I have to say the whole truck. But it stops after a couple miles and is fine until I park it for the day then jump in the next morning and it does it again but sometimes it won't do it.
I had the same feeling in my 95 f150. And I described it almost exactly like you. Got lots of suggestions that I ruled out. One guy told me it sounded like what he experienced till he changed his trans fluid. I figured it's worth a shot. I dropped the pan, changed the filter, flushed torque convertor, and refilled w/mercon V. Amazingly, problem solved. Also, while I was in there, it was suggested to change one of the valves to an updated design. I don't remember which valve, but I could probably dig up the info if you need it.
Notice several running conditions and try to get a feel for when it is happening.
1. normal speed in OD at light throttle.
2. In other gears and speeds.
3. In a coast down, trans out of gear into neutral.
4. Does brake application change anything?
5. Is there a tendency to be heat sensitive?
6. Left or right turn sensitive?
7. Check for excessive lug nut torque distorting the disc. This will tend to be heat sensitive on brake applications.
8. Front end wear. Steering linkage, loose steering box, ball joints, wheel bearing etc.
.
I fought an issue for 6 months trying to figure out the weird actions until it came down to over torqued lug nuts that distorted a front disc, wore the front tires and a bad bearing pack on 4x4 front hub.
and would come and go with brake applications.
Now have all new brake discs, new pads plus other items and all is smooth for a long time now.
Sometimes one issue brings into play others that cause confusion until you catch up with all of them.
Good luck.
Whats weird is sunday me and a friend of mine were trying to see if it might be the transfer case going bad.I stopped the truck and put it in 4 low and floored it. i didnt know that 4.6 could spin the tires in 4 low but when we did that there was a popping sound from the left front and since then no vibration. i have no idea what it was!!! Im sure it will be back but so far nothing!!
