Help with Vivration

I have an 01 ford Excursion 4x4 with 150k miles. I have a vibration issue I'm trying to figure out. The vibration is slight but noticeable at 35-53mph, from around 55-62 it it goes nearly completely away and rides smooth. At 63 it comes back and is the worst from 63-68, after that it goes down slightly but still there. I just had 4 new Nexen 285-75-16 tires put on it this morning with no change. My plan is to take it to a recommended shop next week and have the front end checked out / aligned. The tire shop I got my tires put on at acted like they would check it out right and find any front end problems. I've been under and felt the drive shaft and didn't feel any play in the u-joint. It is also a northern vehicle with some rust if that helps any. i bought it last year online and the guy got over on me. Its turning out to be one of the worst vehicle purchases I've ever made. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thanks

do you feel the vibration in the steering wheel or in the seat or floor ?

if the vibration is coming from the front you will feel it in the steering wheel, if it is coming from the back then you will feel it in your feet or butt.

80% of vibrations lead back to the tire and rims, the next most common is the driveline, from there it can be bearing, rotors, axles, ring gear eat.

I got to spend a little time driving it today so I'll try to answer the best I can. The 35-55 vibration seems to be a touch more in the steering wheel but once you get to the 65mph vibration (which is by far the worst) it is clearly in the seat and really can't feel much of anything in the steering wheel. Its bad enough that the mirrors and dash are shaking. Probably a non related issue but today i started noticing a small noise when braking when getting close to being stopped and the ABS light also came on. May have nothing to do with it but who knows. The brakes on this thing have been less than impressive since day 1 though.

Sounds like you need the front tires balanced as well as the rear shaft sorted out , likely a brake job to boot.

The tires are brand new mounted and balanced yesterday morning. The tires I replaced still had good tread and had been rotated and balanced just a couple months ago. At this point I can't see the tires having anything to do with it. I did crawl under it again yesterday and I couldn't feel any play in the rear drive shaft. Its bad rusty from being up north but no play. I was pulling a trailer and a couple atvs today and the brake noise may not be brake or brake only. I made a stop and when I did even after I wasn't using the brakes there was still noise and resistance. I had to give it gas to keep it going or the resistance would stop it. I got it back on the road and it went away. After that happened I also didn't hear the brake noise on the next couple stops. That makes me think I've got a bearing going bad somewhere but when I got it back to the house I couldn't get it to make the noise or give me the resistance again. A couple times while driving I did feel like there was a touch of pull randomly. I had a ford ranger i drove for a work truck do the same thing and was wheel bearings. I replaced the front left hub assembly this winter but maybe its something else.

Have you checked your brake calipers for a stuck piston or slide pin?

I haven't yet. The brake noise I mentioned in the last post just started today. It did go away for the last several miles of the trip. We've got a baby that Lord willing is on its way today so I haven't had time to mess with it.

Congratulations! The dragging/pulling you mentioned could be brake related. After driving for 10 min or so you could check for one wheel being hotter than the others. You could also jack up each wheel and spin it to check for resistance. Hopefully it is something simple!
