Hello, looking at purchasing a 2013. With the locking rear ends, can it be turned on at any speed? Does it stay locked until you turn it off? Does it have to be in 4x4 to work? Any info. Will be appreciated. Best, CB

It will stay locked in until you reach 20 mph and then it will disengage. It does not have to be in 4 wheel drive to work.

Ditto on Prince Valium's answer - I'm surprised there is not more discussion on the drivetrain of these trucks. I was duly impressed when I bought the F550 ('06) and first met the 6 speed/4wd/tow-haul feature. Now the addition of the locker makes this an awesome package in the F150.
You can do a search on e-locker override mod and some people are using the Raptor switch box to override the e locker to allow use u to 100 mph. (should be used only for off road purposes)
Thanks for the replies. I guess it would be better to buy the truck with the locker than to buy the regular rear end and install a mechanical locker. I'm going to make this deal tomorrow. Any of you know what kind of rear end Ford uses in the 150? It will be the EcoBoost 157".
The truck in my sig. was sold in June for a Honda Pilot. It is amongst some of the biggest mistakes I've made in my 56 years. Tomorrow that Pilot is history. I will be driving a Ford back home. Best, CB
Thanks. I'll take pics. when it's clean. Was raining today. The wrong assed weather people were wrong again. Prince Valium eh. I watched that movie more than a few times. Best, CB
