I just picked up a 1994 F150 ext cab, had another post up already:
"Got my truck, got a coolant leak"
I was playing with the 4wd and noticed when I was in 4wd the truck seemed to be harder to turn. Seems it has an electric locker installed, there's some wires and stuff going into the rear diff on the top of the pumpkin. Was this a factory option or did someone install this? Theres no switch or anything just in 4wd it posi's up pretty solid.
Thats not a locker. The wires are going in to the rear axle speed sensor. Its an eccentric ring on the differential that works the speedometer, and rear ABS.
Its always going to be hard to turn the truck if your locked in 4 wheel drive, thats normal. Don't do it on pavement or hard dirt or any place you don't need 4 wheel drive
Unless there is two seperate sets of wires going to the rear pumpkin, its definatley for the RABS. If you want a rear electric locker, Eaton makes one, Lowest price I've seen is 650.00 with free shipping from http://www.4wheelerssupply.com
