Heat Problems

Hey everyone, I have a 1994 F150 straight 6 manuel 4x4 without A/C and my heat doesnt really work. The vents blows out hard but it's barely warm when the trucks temp gauge is at normal. Could this be the thermostat? Any help appreciated

sounds like the thermostat could be stuck open or the heater core is stopped up

Oh ok thanks, how do I check to see which one if not both are the problem? And how do I fix that?

What does your temperature guage show after it has been fully warmed up? I know some of these guages aren't terribly accurate, but.

The temp gauge reads normal at about the middle of normal after it's had plenty of time to warm up. I've even driven for an hour straight and the trucks heat is hardly even warm at best. It doesnt really bother me that much, but everyone that rides shotgun complains all the time so I decided to finally look into it

well you can just replace the thermostat and see if that helps or you can unhook your heater hoses at the block and water pump and try to back flush the heater core

just remember the hose going to the water pump is the outlet and that is the one you want to flush it from
