Best header gaskets for FE with a un even header flange

i just recently rebuilt my 390FE, and did full exhaust as well. the headers i have came with the truck when i bought it, hooker comps (longtubes) put about 150 miles on the fresh motor and the little exhaust leak is annoying.

right now i have summit brand copper gaskets.

what ones are better for a header with the flange not being completely flat? its only on the driverside.

i would just get new headers but i just had them modified for a 3 bolt flange and i have custom piping from there and it would be a pain to redo.

the leak isnt really bad, mostly can only be heard from inside the cab and its real annoying.

any input will help! thanks

Just leaving like it is in time will burn out the head. Then you have a hell of a time to deal with that..shaving the heads exh header face. Did you also use high temp RTV or just plain gaskets. Most guys forget to re-torque headers bolts when they use the 1/4" header plate to help them to not worping.

Yes I'm aware of that.. That's why I want to fix it.

I didn't use RTV, just dry gaskets.

And yes I re torqued them, I checked them all the time.

Ditch the gaskets and just use a small bead of high temp copper RTV around each port. I have been doing it for years and never had a problem.

If the header flange is uneven, why don't ya grind it flat?
