I got a set of headers from a guy the other day and also had to get a head gasket set. I was wondering if I could use the gaskets that came for the exhaust manifolds when I put the headers on.
After doing alot of reading i got a set of Remflex header gaskets and Stage 8 hardware cause i only want to do them once. I think if your headers have standard flanges the better gaskets are a big plus.

I agree. The only way to get leak free headers is to A, use good gaskets, B, use locking fasteners I.E. stage 8's, and C, use a torque wrench on every bolt. Also it's a good idea to put some anti seize on each bolt if you ever want them to come out again.
I've had good results with no gasket... just a thin bead of high temp orange RTV. Others have as well. Why does it work so well? There is nothing to "blow out". The RTV is very thin. This is the recommended (no gasket) for Sanderson headers.
It works best if the header flange is thick and flat.
