Slow down a bit here... many people are at work and don't have the chance to contribute yet.
Who's tuning? If it's PHP tuning, what hex code and tune did you select? It's easy to miss a spot on the edge of the PCM and cause issues. We don't know if you're getting an overboost and it clears in 90 seconds, or if it's a full-on SES.
The AIS can take what the stock injectors dish out... you might have something else at play.
Tuggles is here. phew.
PHPs tuning. I chose the hex code that corresponds to my computer as listed on the software converter. Am I missing something?
ok maybe I need to pull the PCM out and make sure I have 100% of the connection clear of silicon. I was very careful and deliberate as I didn't want to take off any metal.
I just want the truck to shift like in a decent and safe manner and I don't wanna se check engine lights.
Is that too much to ask?
Before I jump to conclusions I am going to get the codes and see what the story is.
But if the shifting in 65hp continues in this fashion, I will not stay with PHP tunes.
For the sake of argument, I had to send my DP 5 back for tweaking the shift points. It is very hard for any tuner to hit all parameters right off the bat. Having the Hydra, can't that be tweaked by email? I have been told that my AIS is restrictive, but many, many use it with tuned trucks. I also have never had a problem with my air filter gauge pulling in. Many have. Every truck IS different. That is why live tuning exists. Like you said, figure the codes and go from there.

Thanks Tom, Tuggles Wuggles, WhiteB. Good advice from all.
UPDATE: The stumble and poor shifting in 65 HP Daily program/tune was MY FAULT. I had downloaded a tune with a hex code one digit off. Totally my fault. Not PHP's fault.
If you've ever seen the software interface for the hydra chip, and the way it lists the tunes you have loaded, it not the easiest list to read through and since the PRINT FUNCTION doesnt work, I was relegated to a screen shot which didnt make things any clearer.
I then installed the correct tune and the truck shifts just fine for the 10 miles I drove it.
Check engine light is gone now as well. I spoke to Delton at East Coast Diesel and he told me to clean the contacts on the PCM until copper was showing on both sides. This is in contradiction to the instructions on PHP's installation video. Perhaps this was part of the issue as well.....poor contact.
Ok so after driving 50 miles local stop and go with the 65 HP Daily Tune I can say that THIS WAS THE SOLUTION I WAS LOOKING FOR.
What a difference. Even with a completely stock truck, the difference in acceleration with 65 Daily Tune is fabulous at anything above 1/4 throttle. Acceleration is finally what I would call acceptable for a truck of this size.
As I said above, the 80 hp daily tune triggered my filter minder light. Filter is relatively clean...but looks like it cant handle the air requirement. I dont have more than a couple of miles experience driving the 80 HP tune.
Only other tune I tested is the Whisper idle tune...quiets the truck by 30%?...sounds very nice too.
I had the AIS from day one on my tuned stock truck and I never had a problem with a filter minder (with the fender sleeve mod) until I bumped up the sticks, then it was time for the S&B. The AIS is dead quiet and breathes nice... I miss it because it was so quiet.
Watch out for the whisper tune... retarding the SOI is the trick to that, and the truck can really stink if you're at a coffee window. I used quiet tunes for driving somewhere that called for low decibels, but never idling in place. Never start a cold truck in whisper tune... I did this once. Once. Stinky was almost renamed to "Bucky" after that little faux pas.
I don't know if the PHP calibrations are available on your Hydra, but you might want to look at this: [LINK]

I presumed the whisper quiet mode wouldn't even work in a cold start....either way, sounds like a bad idea...I agree. SOI?
I don't wanna spend big $$$ on intake right now. I might just go to the cheapo WIX 46637 route....unless you wanna sell me your AIS...
Oh COOL post on the HYDRA software...gonna read it.
That AIS sold before I could even pull it off the truck, and I didn't even advertise it was for sale. The buyer yanked his 6637 to install the used AIS.
SOI = Start Of Injection. Think spark timing on a gasser. Retarding softens the sound and the power on both, but the emissions on a diesel do the exact opposite of a gasser.

SOI...thanks.
I ordered the simple WIX/NAPA. Riffraff had the best price with shipping...cheaper than AMAZON Prime. Touché RiffRaff.
If its too loud I will get rid of it...for a measly $40...its worth a try. I don't want that filter minder light triggering endlessly.
Got my Hydra chip in the mail last week and finally had some time to play with the software last night. This is really cool so far . It's gonna be so much easier to change/update tunes when I get to some upgrades this year. Just hook the USB cable up to the laptop and point & click.

Wish I was that brave lol
me & that spark & flash stuff...not so good
