You just HAD to remind me didn't ya.............lol
Harley and I will make a dump run this morning, then we get to start the worst part. The 3 bedrooms are SOAKED, and all that wet, stinky, smelly crap has to come out. Oh joy...
Since I got my truck repairs done on Saturday yesterday I took my family down to check out our beach property.
Drove down to Rockaway Beach, checked the place out, drove up north to Seaside and headed home. Brrrrr was it cold going over the Wilson River Highway Sunday morning... Upper teens. Thankfully ODOT did a fine job keeping up on the de-icer.
Last night I started feeling like crud. Something in my chest and throat. I didn't sleep worth a hoot last night so I decided to take the day off. I slept in until 11:30.
Hopefully this stuff will work its way through my system today and tomorrow I'll feel better.
Afternoon Tiny. Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, hopefully it'll pass quick! Sounds like you had a nice trip to the beach! How far is that from your home?
It's about 110 miles door to door. We took a slightly longer way home. We were gone about 7 hours. Stopped for a nice late lunch at a really cool place on the way home. Camp 18. It's a famous restaurant with logging equipment all over the outside. The building is made of logs with the main beam across the roof being a log 85 feet long... One piece! It's about 60" in diameter at the butt.
Our property is about 1 mile off the beach. It's an old single wide mobile home. Nothing fancy it'll keep you dry when it's raining. I'm not very attached to the place. It seems all I ever do is work on the damn thing. I'd much rather have some vacation property out in Central Oregon. That's more my style.
My wife's grandfather bought the property back in 1973. Basically it was a swamp. He spent several years clearing and hauling in fill material. It's got about 2 feet of pit run rock and then fines to level things out.
About 10 years ago he got tired of keeping the place up and gave my wife and mother-in-law 50/50 ownership.
It costs us about $1500 a year to keep up on the taxes, utilities and basic maintenance. The yard is fenced and great for recreation purposes. The dogs can run all they want. We park our camper on the property from time to time. We ar close to Tillamook Bay... Awesome Dungeoness Crabbing and salmon fishing.
I've spent more time working in the place than anybody else in the last 10 years. I'd rather go to the lakes in Central Oregon and go trout fishing. Rather than play for 1 day and work on the property for 3 days.
