Starting - Cold Weather

Forgot to plug in the other night and tried a start at temps somewhere between -25 / -30 deg C. It really turned over slooww. Did not start but I did not push it.

Plugged in for 2 hours and started no problem. I think this truck will start without plug in down to about -20 C.

Have dino oil in it as well. It would have likely turned over faster with synthetic and maybe started.

Otherwise runs very well when warmed up. Manual transmission is a PITA in the cold but not as bad as the old manuals from decades ago.

I start my 350 without the block heater in the mid minus 20s now and again. Glow plugs a few times for about two minutes then crank and cringe at the noise the motor makes when it fires.

Definately switch to T5 10W30 or T6 5W40 or an equivalent oil. 15W40 is like molasses at those temps.

I don't plug in and my truck starts fine below zero Fahrenheit
