Front end assembly problem?????
OK, I have a 1987 Bronco II 4WD Dana 28 and I am trying to put my spindle and hub(AutoLok) back together after installing new balljoints and wheel bearings, BUT when I get everything back together and try to install the final lockring on the axle, the groove in the axle that the lockring goes into isn't exposed enough to let the lockring seat (like the axle isnt sticking through the spindle far enough? Any ideas as to what the problem may be? Anyone ever experience this before? Any help greatly appreciated? Thanks in advance.

If your set up is anythinglike my 79 F150, then you should be able to pull the shaft forward with your hand or pry on it from behind the backing plate by the axle u-joint. there is a little play in them and I hope that will do the trick. GOOD LUCK

FIXED IT!!! I found that I had put too much grease on the seal that goes on the axle against the spindle mating surface on the backside and the grease was basically creating a hydraulic lock (nowhere for the grease to go) and it would not allow the axle to travel far enough out. I took it apart and cleaned out one groove in the seal and it fit up like it was made to fit. Just thought I would share that info incase anyone else runs into the same problem. Thanks.
