sugh, another warn hub question

Alright, got my warn premium hubs out and ready to install. For some reason they did not come with instrutions. i got the stock hub out right before dark so did not finish everything yet. The hubs come with a small brass looking snap ring and a large black looking lockring maybe. Do i need to use these to install? I am pretty surr i dont use the snapring but do use the lockring.? If i do use the lockring, how do I install it? not really sure, any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Yeah I had read that thread. I did search and read most of them. I just simply don't see what will hold these in the axle since I don't think the snapping is used on our trucks because it is on the axle before the hub holding the three washers in. I don't really see a way to lock the lock ring in there. Maybe they go deeper in the hub than I thought.

The thrust washers on the back of the hub go seel washer, plastic hexagon nut, washer then the snap ring. IIRC the large black washer/ring is removed for aftermarket hubs.

The small snap ring you dont need, there is another black ring, maybe like 2" in diameter, thats kind of designed like a slinky (to put it in easiest terms) that snaps in to hold the inner hub piece in place. You have to expand it and stick one side in and work it in slowly until the whole ring is in place. Kind of hard to explain, i just had to sit there for a few minutes and figure out how it went

Yes you are correct. The thing in the middle is what holds it in, youll the the groove it snaps into. After you put it in, i usually take a small flat head screwdriver and just make sure its pried all the way into place

And if they rattle afterwards, Warn will send you (for free) another set of snaprings. The groove that the big ring fits into is (usually?) too wide for the ring to hold the whole assembly tight. So, Warn's solution is to mail you another set of rings which actually makes a big difference.

If they do rattle over bumps, contact Warn support through their web page, give them your mailing address, and they should send you another set First-Class mail. Which will usually get to you in 2-3 days.

Thanks krewat. Haven't driven it yet but the hubs do move about a mm or two. But not much at all. I'll just email them anyway. Also, so behind the hubs is the snap ring and washers. Should those be tight and not spin?
