Started smelling raw fuel from heater. Found a fuel leak on the fuel bowl on top of engine (where the fuel filter resides). Not a bad one, but it's enough that the front of the engine and crossmember are wet. And w/ Diesel at $4.00 a gallon, gotta get this fixed asap..
It appears the diesel is leaking around a fitting (possibly where the regulator exits). It's NOT leaking around the cap...
Do I really need the housing? or is it "beefier" to handle the additional spring pressure ? While I'm working on this, I'd like to install a schraeder valve so I can test the fuel pressure. Are the plugs on the 6.0 fuel bowl the same size as the one's on a 7.3? if not, what size are they and do you know of anyone who sells them? Thanks.
Purchased the kit (w/ housing from Dealership) and installed everything last night. I immediately noticed that the engine idled smoother. Drove it a few miles, seemed to have a bit more throttle response too.
I spoke to a Diesel mechanic who told me that regulator fuel leaks were a common thing with the 6.0.
Anyway, for those who haven't installed the blue spring, I'd suggest doing it.
I'm still looking for the adapters to install a schraeder valve so I can test the fuel pressure..
