I got an intermitent fuel leak? The first time I emptied the fuel bowl and tightened the filter and it went away. I saw fuel coming out of a tube that runs up and down the fuel bowl. The fuel was coming towards the bottom of the tube.(closer to the block).
BTW: how likely is for diesel to ignite in a situation like this?
Sounds like your fuel drain valve may be leaking. Make sure you have it all the way closed. If that's not it, the fuel pressure regulator (fpr) assembly, connected to the side of the fuel housing, may be the culprit. Correcting an fpr leak might require replacing it. Hope this helps.
Hey! I forgot to answer your fuel igniting question. I had a slow fpr leak (I have no idea how long it had been leaking) before it got bad enough to spot. On either leak you should be fine if you correct it before it has time to really start flowing.
I had a puddle on my block from a bad water senson o-ring (bottom drivers side of the fuel filter jug). Drove for a couple hrs on damp roads. No fire (luckly diesle has a low flash rating... once its going it burns longer without evapourating). Offset wrench (with a bend) and a new o-ring will fix it in about 10 min.
