For me I will avoid the pressure, too risky. Yes, your motor looks pretty normal for age etc. These things will seep oily moisture around the boots.
How does the foil around the back firewall look? Can you see soot from the exhaust?
yah, probably best if you can avoid it, I was just real careful around connectors and things that looked brittle or like they could be destroyed by high pressure.
Having said that, Tappit... your engine doesn't look all that bad, you'd be surprised what a little simple green and some running water will do (along with maybe a little elbow grease like Jeffery said). Can't really say about boost leaks, would need to do a leak test to ensure you are sealed up solid. You might think about doing the ccv mod while you're in there, keeps all that oil blow by down to a minimum. Welcome to guzzle's CCV mod web page
..... You guys are too funny !!!!!!! But not funny HaHa
Now I myself am an old school guy and use engine degreaser and a water hose now. But when I bought my truck the engine had never been cleaned and it took a few times with plastic bags, engine degreaser and pressure washer to even get it to where I would touch it. This is how the whole looked before I started.
Then I couldn't leave well enough alone I cleaned & sanded painted. I also polished the HPOP before I sent it Joey. Also polished fuel bowl.
Once again I couldn't leave it alone I painted the turbo & HPOP res. with ceramic paint, did a brushed finish on spyder, left the fuel lines alone I like the patina and waxed the valve covers. Sorry I haven't taken any photos since I put it all together.
