great, thanks guys. another question, is a pressure washer to much or should i keep it to just use a garden hose w/spayer attachment. we are talking about 13 years of grime here. i'll try to upload some pics, never done that before.

I feel guilty as well. I won't spend the evening cleaning my engine compartment but will feel really bad about it.

Good project for after hunting season, fuel bowl rebuild, HPOP o-rings, and oil bypass filter install.

I used a pressure washer on mine... with the lowest pressure tip/setting it had. Just be careful around electrical connectors, intake and such. Once done, you might want to blow out the electrical connections with some air and apply some dielectric grease to them. Now that the years of abuse have all been washed away, a simple garden hose works just fine on the upkeep.

NO pressure washer!!! I know it's tempting but the connectors are water resistant, not water proof. Let the cleaner do the work, and just use a low pressure hose to rinse. It may take several sprays and a good long soak or two to get it all broke down, but it'll shine up for you. Don't be afraid to wipe by hand either if need be.

Look at me, sounding like an expert. I've never cleaned one in my life lol. But really, pressure washer is too much.

Ok so maybe you can successfully use a pressure washer. I was always told not to, but if you're careful around connectors I guess it can be done...

I don't clean my engine either, other than wiping parts off if I'm working on something before I put it back together.

Rick's engine is the cleanest I've seen in person. My wife's engine is pretty clean too.

yah, probably best if you can avoid it, I was just real careful around connectors and things that looked brittle or like they could be destroyed by high pressure.
Having said that, Tappit... your engine doesn't look all that bad, you'd be surprised what a little simple green and some running water will do (along with maybe a little elbow grease like Jeffery said). Can't really say about boost leaks, would need to do a leak test to ensure you are sealed up solid. You might think about doing the ccv mod while you're in there, keeps all that oil blow by down to a minimum. Welcome to guzzle's CCV mod web page

That's cute! for a lady! What type of coating did you use for alt., hpop, etc.?... just paint or is it powder coated?
