Yes, 42 psi is definitely the minimum for a truck this heavy, and thats only with good quality tires and empty. I do air up when I carry a load.
I dont know how low they can(or would) go, but from what others have said here, with stock TPMS settings(80 psi rear) some guys are running around 65 on the rears and not setting the light.

so with that in mind, if you can get them to set it to somewhere in the 50's, you could still get down to the 40's without setting the light.

Pam you know the rules. Without pics it didn't happen

Seriously, I have the Bilstein 5100's and am of the opinion that they ride stiffer than the factory Rancho's. There is a lot less body roll, the tires stay planted to the road and the overall driveability/handling is much better --- But they will not fix your boob problem.

I think you are on the right track by changing the air pressure in the tires, but ultimately I think you are going to have to address the shocks anyway.

Not trying to be a douce just being honest. Where I live and drive the roads are anything but smooth and this truck is a dream to drive because of how smooth it is. Honestly one reason I went newish (bought it with just under 8k miles in october) is because I was just sick of being bounced around in the older trucks and it's just not that way with these. So if driving one of these is just to much for you maybe one of those cars chevy calls trucks is for you.

GM's not the answer. I did 90k in my 06 GMC, And even with the BB, my wife prefers the SD-DRW.

I think we need them so we can properly assist you with solving your problem. Consider it research and development. Lol. Seriously though...the Rancho 9000 will make a big difference in the ride quality. Low setting = no bounce, higher settings for when you and your hubby are feelin a bit frisky.

I saw a noticable difference when I installed the Bilstien 5100's.
I also saw a big difference whne I added my Ranchand bumpers, the added weight made for a smoother ride.

Not saying you should go out and spend a lot of $ on bumpers but I think added weight in these trucks makes a difference. Maybe consider a larger or additional fuel tank. Two benifits in one, better ride and extended fuel range.

Good point Gunny.

My earlier post noted that I felt that my ride was stiffer with the 5100's, should have mentioned that is unloaded. When pulling the boat it does seem that the ride is somewhat softer.

The best choices are:
1. Lower pressure in tires.
2. Going to "D" load range tires if you don't go over the weight.
(I did this before I got my 5th wheel)
3. Shocks, either Rancho 9000 or Bilstein 5100.
4. Air ride/air bag rear suspension

You could pack around some extra weight in the back of the truck. That always seems to smooth out the ride.
