Ever since I've bought my truck, I've put up with having a rough ride down the rode. I'm just wondering if these trucks were built to ride rough, or if I've got some worn parts.
I keep my tires inflated at 35 psi, and I don't keep a load or anything in the bed, just my toolbox. If I replaced the shocks would it make the ride any better? I don't think my shocks are too worn because my truck doesn't bounce every time I hit a bump.
Mine had original shocks and 107k when I bought it. I put on some Skyjacker shocks, and felt a big difference. It still ride's rougher then any truck I've been in..lol....but I think that's because it's an HD
Does your truck have quad front shocks? If so take a pair off and throw them away.
Does your truck have LT tires on it? If you don't carry heavy loads get a set of P spec tires for it, bit improvement in ride right there.
Take the shocks off of it completely. You'll have a nice bouncy Caddy ride
That's the way my old shocks were. They took no pressure at all to compress or extend them. Didn't feel many bumps with them, but the ride was very soft and bouncy. I prefer the correct firm and stiff ride with the new shocks...
My '89 F150 also had it's 4 original shocks, all of witch had leaked out, drove it like that for a year. Loved it to be honest. Put 4 new shocks tho, rides like a truck again, even tho still has a very nice ride.

It wasn't too bad in town with bad shocks. On the highway though, any bit of a bend with a bump in it and the truck wanted to change lanes even if I didn't.
Mine was oddly solid even with the worn shocks. All I do is highway driving, and it had a nice smooth bounce to it, nothing dangerous or make it wander. It did have more lean in turns though, and hitting "Wavy" bumps on a highway offramp, that wasn't fun.

My lift and, at the time, 35's probably didn't help either....
I don't have another truck exactly the same without sway bars to compare, but it does have better cornering than my '94 4x4 F150 witch has no sway bars at all. That would be the only difference I can notice.
