I have a 1997 F-250 7.3 PSD 4wd and I was wondering if anybody has put on the edlbrock IAS shocks on there truck. I use my truck pretty much for hauling mine and my friends snowmobles up to Canada. When the truck is fully loaded it rides great, but when i drive it empty it is a rough ride for me and the dog. if anybody knows if these shocks will help the ride of the truck when it is empty please let me know.
Thanx in advance.
Usually the F-250 superduty trucks have heavy duty springs. You could get a better preformance shock. Trucks usually ride very hard with heavy duty springs.
Hi,the F-250 With a diesel is sprung pretty heavy usually 8600# 8800# on a supercab so they aren't going to ride like a car but you can soften the ride a little bit with a good quality gas charged shock. Don't buy the cheap ones you have to get a good shock to make any difference at all. John Sugden (FATFORTY)
I am running Rancho's all the way around my 86 CC/SRW 2WD 6.9liter. It took the edge off of the hard bumps and smoothed the ride out some but it still rides like it has cinder blocks for springs. I am pretty much use to it now (know which pot-holes to dodge to avoid spilling the morning coffee) and really it dosen't bug me much anymore. Drives the wife mad though I guess she just doesn't appreciate the finer things in life. LOL
This may not be practical, but if you always haul something heavy in the bed it helps. I saw a story in one of the off-road magazines a year or so ago where someone makes a spring shackle(I think it's B.F. Goodrich) that takes most of the rough ride out of an unloaded truck. I think I read about it in 4-Wheel & off road.
I forgot to mention in my last post that The roads here suck lol. I forget that some places have smooth roads. not Abilene however. They have potholes big enough to swallow Fiestas around here. I do know that a friend of mine is running Monroe Senstracs on the front of his F150 and loves them. Says it makes it handle like a new truck and seems to ride good.
Brad, tell your wife the same thing I do, It rides like a cadillac!!! you gotta know which holes to avoid cause the cup holders only work on smooth roads (if it is anything like mine) captains chairs with console. John Sugden (FATFORTY)
Mines a bench with a custom made ($3.99) plastic floor console. I am getting pretty good at having a gyroscope hand with the coffee cup in the morning. I know just exactly when to pluck the cup from the holder and hold on to it. I would like to go with a set of buckets out of a newer truck eventually and a lumbar support bench in the back. Take it easy.
