I have a 96 f350 club cab 4x4 7.3 ps with an auto trans , it seems to shift very quickly ( to quick I think) into overdrive , it pulls good til it shifts then it seems shift to quick making it feel sluggish til it gets to speed is this normal ?? would a shift kit solve this?? thanks
Yes, that's normal, and no, a shift kit won't help that at all. The shifting decision is made in the PCM, not the transmission. There is nothing you can change in the transmission to change when it shifts. You need a chip for the PCM to change when it shifts.
our trucks dont have a fuel pressure sensor. i think you replaced the fuel restriction sensor which is a common leak area and the the restriction sensor has nothing to do with the shift strategy
I'll know more after I drive it more, but it was obvious that something was wrong with the tranny for more than a week and after I fixed that leak, it seems to be better. I'm going 40 miles right now. didn't make sense to me, but that's how it seems so far. I'll update tonight
call me crazy, but I just drove 50 miles, freeway and in town, it's acting totally normal. I never kept track of rpm/shift/speed, but at 40mph I'm at 1200 rpm, I think in OD with button off(not pressed) It was a fast drip out of that sensor, didn't seem to affect the performance at all, except for the shifting issues. I thought I was going to have to buy a new/rebuilt tranny. I have to pull something before I can make that decision though. Thanks for the info/opinions
