2000 7.3 Auto Trans Question

Just bought a spectacular 2000 F350 crew cab 4X4 long bed. Guy really took care of it. The trans was rebuilt about a year ago (fluid is crystal clear) and it works fine but the shift points are very high 2300-2700 rpm all the time even driving it easy in traffic with no load at all. It also drops out of overdrive to third with very little throttle pressure under 50-60 mph. Trans pulls fine with no slippage at all even with the 13000# horse trailer loaded up.

I've driven other Ford trucks including 7.3's and none ever shifted like this.

Can the shift point be adjusted lower?

Mikey

There are no adjustments for shift points. They are controlled by the PCM. Does it have a chip or tuner? Those can change shift points.
