I actually looked at them yesterday for the first time and I think these clips are here to clip anything you want.
Yes, as long as it is not thicker than a short stack of paper.
For example, the waist band of my undie shorts fits nicely in the clip. Everybody is looking for alternate ideas so there's one that you can take to the bank.
It must be for papers, like registration, insurance, etc. Just as the OP stated he did not want, I am giving my "what I use it for." I put letters, bills, etc that need to be snail mailed in there on my way to the post office, so that I see them and don't forget to stop on my way outta Dodge.
What ever stays in the clip is what it's for. If I don't have a shirt on my pocket, it gets the stray business cards out of the way 'till I get home to put the info into my database, then they get trashed instead of filed.
Not looking for guesses here, or "here's what "I" use it for" type answers. Hoping there is a Ford Service Mechanic, or Ford Salesperson, or Factory Rep out there who can tell me what the Engineers were thinking when they put this "clip" on the visor.
That said, I dont think even if a service mechanic would know what it is "real use" is or half the salespeople for that matter, Engineers probaly dont even know its there, they dont think in common sense logic, so, I think you are going to be stuck with the owners opinions......
Simply a convient/handy spot to put a toll ticket,credit card,receipt or.....
