What's It For?

Ok,.....sitting in your drivers seat, of your 2009 SuperCab, ........look up at your visor (in the "stowed" position). On the bottom right is a clip that is part of the molded plastic which has the connector pin on the backside, to hold the visor in place.

My question..........what's the "clip" (facing you) for? It's on the passenger visor as well.

Not looking for guesses here, or "here's what "I" use it for" type answers. Hoping there is a Ford Service Mechanic, or Ford Salesperson, or Factory Rep out there who can tell me what the Engineers were thinking when they put this "clip" on the visor.

It hold business cards and paper. Instead of putting them behind your garage door opener. I have one in the Explorer and wish I had one in my truck.

I think that is what it is for. They always add those little things without telling you. Anything in the owner manual about it?

I didn't think there would be. But I'm going with the card holder, works good too.

Anyone else think it's odd they could put something like that on there, and not give you a decent way to check your engine oil unless you're 7' tall or taller? LOL

When I first saw it I figured glasses or insurance papers, tried both and neither work in it, too tight to clip glasses in and too tight to pull paper out of without it tearing. You also have the paper droop right in your line of site, so I'd say that is exactly what some moron engineer made it for.

I originally thought perhaps I could clip my garage door opener to it, (which, technically, I can) but it's clearly too "flop around" for that.

Some Engineer with not much to do, obviously did an iteration for this item to justify his existence at Ford (lol). No real solid value that "I" can see.

By the way, my garage is a "car and a half" and I STILL find it a challenge to avoid hitting the side mirrors (yes I know they "fold" but who the heck takes the time to fold them in every day!!) when I pull in or back out, nevermind being "seven foot tall to check the oil."

Interesting side note: some of you may recall that I had posted a comment that my wife made, the first time she road in the new truck, about the angle of the headrest. She had me remove it.

Well yesterday, when I took my son-in-law and daughter to go see "The Hobit," what's the first thing he noticed? "Hey, where's the head rest!?"

That said, I dont think even if a service mechanic would know what it is "real use" is or half the salespeople for that matter, Engineers probaly dont even know its there, they dont think in common sense logic, so, I think you are going to be stuck with the owners opinions......
