Pretty high tech back in the day. I wonder what it was like in a two door where the front top of the seat bent forward to accommodate access to the rear seat.

The MRS keeps bugging me to hook our dog to one but I just don’t see the point. Not sure it would protect it any better than being loose.

Keeps the dog from rolling away when they jump over the side at speed. With the tether, they can bounce behind instead until you stop.

Frankly, I'm not quite sure which of these 'safety' devices are safer. And yes, it's still a wonder we survived.

I'm not sure which would be safer but the strap is nicer.

Like a seat belt, it's a courtesy to the rescue squad. They don't have to spend a lot of time searching for the victims and can get home at a decent hour.

That raised child seat is way more alarming than the safety straps! Let's make sure the kid definitely goes through the windshield every time, lol

My parent used something like that on my sister and I in the back seat. as they didn't have seatbelts.

Ha ha....been there...I got smacked a couple of times when she would have to brake hard and her right arm would come flying over to hold me in place.

Yup, Me too.

And...… If we were in the Back Seat, we were STANDING on the floorboard, chin resting on the Front Seat.
