I have a 79 F250 4x4 with C6. The transmission has always shifted fine. No slips, or stalls. Suddenly while going down the road the other day, it just stopped pulling. When allowed to cool down just a few minutes, it started pulling again. My question is this.... is my problem the transmission or the transfer case? Thanks for any advice y'all can give me.
Almost sounds like vapor lock or some sort of fuel starvation. Was the transmission slipping or something? From what youre describing i cant see how it would be t-case related.
no the motor still runs fine. it's just like you put it in neutral or something. i pulled the pan off the transmission because it sounded like the filter may be stopped up or something, but the filter looked good.
I'ld be considering some Lucas for the trans short term to maybe remove deposits or gummy stuff .... followed by changing fluid and filter (Use Mercon V now as it covers those apps calling for Type CJ).
