Lots of discussion on rear disc swaps, manual to power brakes, and drum to discs up front but does anyone know of any upgrades for front power disc brakes such as
bigger rotors - bigger calipers( 4piston) - anything like that?
I swapped 05-07 superduty brakes onto my 99 superduty and it made a huge difference.
Looking to do something like that on my 78 F250.
As far a brake upgrades go... you can upgrade you're brake booster to the 1988-1997 F-Super Duty diesel hydroboost brake booster set up or convert your rear brake drums to disk brakes.
10-4 guys.
I was hoping those wouldn't be the only options as it has a new MC/booster on it now. Seems like there would be a 4 piston caliper or big rotor that we could retro fit.
I'll keep digging.
My 78 F150 has a F350 MC/ booster with dual diaphragm and 78 T-Bird Calipers up front. Larger stainless steel pistons but you can use the stock pads. Straight swap and easy to do. It will STOP

So it's this 88-97 F350 booster you guys are talking about?
Is it just the booster I can pull off and use my existing MC or do I need to get the MC off the 350 as well?
I'm assuming if I get this stuff off a parts truck the MC will more than likely be bad... but maybe I'll get lucky.
To be clear, this is what is on my dent. 1978 F350 RWD dual-diaphragm booster and master cylinder, 1978 Thunderbird calipers. Larger, stainless steel pistons in them than the stock Bronco/F100/F150 calipers. Upside you can use stock Bronco/F150 brake pads with them.
Here's a pic of the MC/Booster installed. Sorry I don't have a pic of the calipers.
You can try your luck with a junkyard pull or the MC/Booster combo will run you about $110 from RockAuto.com or similar. Calipers from the yard $20-30 for the pair.
As good as it stops I don't see going the Hydroboost route until I run out of other parts to replace/upgrade on my truck Hope that helps.
