I have a 73 F100 with manual brakes, and drums in the front... i was curious to know if i could add a brake booster to the master cylinder it it would help my brake sitsuation. any input would be severely appreciated. thank you in advance.
Unless you have trouble mashing down the brake pedal in my opinion just adding a booster would not make the brakes work better. The way I understand the booster, it only offers a vacuum assist to make it easier to apply the brakes. Pushing down harder on the manual pedal would have the same effect. At least that is the way I understand it. If I am wrong, someone please comment and let me know.
I had a 1971 F-100 4x4 with power brakes. I put in a complete booster/mstr cyl from a F-350 with disc brakes. Not 50/50 bias, but, you can adjust the rear brakes. But, even if you get the drum/drum combo the rebuilt is probably going to have a mstr for a disc set up anyways. Pretty much just a bolt in.
It made a hugh difference in stopping power, especially towing. With your manual brakes, it will be a 100% improvement at least.
