rebuilding body

the body on our 78 250 is pretty much shot. i have searched the internet for parts but can only find panels. I could fix the front half with just panels but it will require a whole new bed. does any aftermarket company make a whole new bed that is made out of descent steel. I am new to this site so bear with me.

Ummmm Try a Junk yard. you should set aside a whole day and that way you will pay the least for them even if you gotta get them painted. If you are too lazy or not lazy enough then you can try http://www.car-part.com all the stuff is used though.

There is a company down in Florida that makes complete fiberglass beds, bedsides, cabs, and frontclips for ford trucks. Dont remember the name, but I think I searched "fiberglass panels florida" Their beds are expensive, but they are supposed to be stronger than factory and they'll never rust again. I'd just be sure to put a bedliner in it. As for steel beds, I've never seen a complete kit although it would be nice if someone made one.

Complete aftermarket steel beds are available. I saw one at my local truck parts store. It was about $1,000 if I remember. It looked pretty good. If I had no bed and couldn't find one, I would buy one. Check at your local truck parts stores.

$2500 for a fiberglass bed IS expensive...

Shipping would be horrendous also.

Expensive, yes; but what a road trip! Hey, you could throw that new tilt front end in the back for the return trip. Think of the savings on shipping.
