changing out windshield weatherstripping..adding chrome?!?
Hi folks,Yes, I'm new here, but not new to old Ford trucks. Just bought my 3rd f/100. It's a 79 Ranger XLT...a real nice'n. Working out a few bugs in it and one major item is the windshield is leaking terribly. Looks like Ray Charles might have put it in. It is the one that has no metal chrome, just a chrome colored insert, but I'd like to add the chrome trim when I have the weatherstripping replaced.
My question is: If I take it to the local glass shop, can they use my same windshield and just replace the weatherstripping and add the chrome trim?

They will need the chrome trim pieces. You will have to go talk to them. Some shops don't like messing with used glass and/or other peoples gaskets. You may have a lot of body work to do when that glass is removed. The gasket may not be leaking as much as there may be rust holes...
