95 psd went to start this morning, engine turned slow and then everything died, no power in cab, instruments radio etc....... is there a fusible link or a fuse I need to check..thanks...
This is the obvious question...but how old/good are the batteries, and have you tested them or had them tested? Cranking slow sounds like batteries. What's the CCA on the batteries? I just installed new ones and it made a WORLD of difference. And you're not getting any lights or anything when you turn the key to "on"?
thanks for the reply! at least on of the batteries must be on it's way out cause I had to ge a boost yesterday...there on the charger right now....but I am not getting any thing in the canb, lights or the bell
Might be best to start with new batteries. If one is low, it will pull the other one down with it. And everyone says it's not good to mix and match. If you can afford to get two new ones, it sounds like it's time. That would be the first thing I'd check before you go tearing into anything else. Do that, then you'll know it's not the batteries causing problems and can troubleshoot fuses or other electrical problems from there. You can also go ahead and check that GPR with the meter for your no-start issue. I'd bet that it's probably bad. You may have all good glow plugs, but if that GPR is bad, none of them will do any good!
ok, been on the charger for a little while and I got instruments and bell.....will take batteries to be checked.....thanks for your input..what's the gpr?? lol

I agree that it sounds like the batteries or a charging issue though. Start at the batteries, then alternator. Make sure all connections are clean and tight. Some Di-Electric grease on the connections is never a bad idea.
Mine looks similar, but a little different than the picture posted above. Don't have a picture of it installed handy, but here's a link to what the part looks like.
You'll have to remove your engine cover (right in the center of the engine, on top, that says "Direct Injection" and has the little flip up door), if yours is still on there. There are three bolts that hold hold this in place. You may as well just take this off and put it in your storage building. Most that I know don't keep them on there.
If I recall correctly, the GPR is bolted on in the same place as one of the engine cover mounting brackets (the engine cover you just took off )- specifically the one to the left if you're looking at the engine from in front. You should see it there. Then follow the directions for testing that I listed above. I'm no guru with the meter, and it was easy for me!
Holy cow...just realized that I got this thread mixed up with another one when I posted about the GPR! There was another thread I was think of...you didn't mention anything about the glow plugs. Geez...sorry. You can disregard all the stuff about the GPR. Sorry! Didn't mean to confuse anyone!
