I can't find the thread that discussed the Insight turning off when starting up on a cold morning. Mine did it this morning and I'm wondering if there is a fix? I haven't heard from the Edge people.
Are you talking about a remote start or it just being too cold and shutting down?
If the Edge is not on after a remote start. You can download the latest firmware. Once that is on your Edge, Remote start and when you get in the truck, just touch the screen and it will turn on.
When I start the truck with the key the unit beeps and shuts off (but only when it's cold). It won't turn back on by touching the screen. I have to unplug the OBD and plug it back in.
There is a thread addressing this very issue but I haven't found it.
Mine did this for the first time this morning. I heard it beep and then noticed that it wasn't on as I pulled out of the driveway. It was colder yesterday morning, so it's strange that it didn't come on today. I unplugged and plugged it back in and it worked fine.
I had mine turn off in the hot heat of summer. Stays off until the cab cools of and then it turns on. But I've never had a problem with the truck being too cold. And mine spent many night outside at -25°F last winter.
Hopefully it was just a glitch that the updated firmware will fix.
Well I called edge again and this time they targeted my device for a special calibration. Did the update, which was unusual this time... took much longer, made some funny noises and told me to unplug it and plug it back in... they also told me not to update it again unless I call them first. So here's hoping it's fixed.

I'm back to say that it worked this morning. I did the same firmware update after the tech did some prep at his end. Something about re-calibration. Whatever it was, it seems to have fixed the problem. Although he didn't say anything about not updating again.
Came back to say that it's best to call their customer service. Someone finally answered my email and said they had never heard of this problem. Right...
It was too warm last night to know for sure, tonight should be cold enough, i'll post back. I think it depends on who you get, the first guy I talked to was adamant I had a battery problem.

That's funny.
Seems strange that guy thought there wasn't enough battery to run that tiny edge device but there is enough power to turn over a diesel engine obviously.

Same here. Works fine now after update.
In addition to working on a cold morning after a remote start, the DPF Pressure PID (DPFpsi) now works correctly. No longer looks like a random number generator. Runs between 0.1 and 6.4 PSI depending on throttle position and DPF soot level. Load PID numbers also look a little more realistic now too.
Mine was always fine on my Duramax, when I did the update for the 6.7, it has had issues turning off after while or not coming on. I fixed mine though, says Spartan now.
