Edge insight issues

Anyone else having issues with their edge insight? Whenever it drops below freezing here my edge just gives me one long beep and the only way to get it working again is to unplug it and plug it back in. If it warms up during the day it'll be fine the rest of the day, but if it stays cold it'll happen every time I go somewhere. Soon it will be much colder, so this is getting annoying. I called edge and they said they thought it was a battery problem, though the batteries are obviously pretty new and I've never had a lack of power, it always starts strong no matter the temperature. The only thing I can think off is the sudden power draw from the starter at these colder temperatures is enough draw to pull down the voltage enough to screw with it. Anyone else having problems?

I just purchased one about a week ago, having a similar problem!

I get this long beep also when I remote start my truck then get in after 5 to 10 minutes and touch the screen to wake it up. I then have to unplug and replug it in, annoying I agree.

It works fine if I remote start and get in within 3 minutes and touch the screen.

Call Edge last night and the tech set up a firmware for the unit to download, Did the same thing this morning.

Temps up here have been in the low 20's at night.
Will be calling them tomorrow night again to try maybe another patch.

Are you using a remote starter?

Brian

Yes I am most of the time, though I've had it do it without using it too.

Mine does the same thing but it didn't when it was new 1.5 years ago. The problem started after the first time I updated it. I often wish I had never updated the stupid thing since it worked much better before the updates.

Mine will do the something occationally only when I auto start. I have not called Edge yet but mine has been doing it for the last year when temp is below 25F. Interested if Edge has a solution for the issue.

When it was new and I remote started it would need to be un-plugged and replugged. But I downloaded the update and that problem has never come back. On a remote start I have to touch the screen to wake it up.

My temps have dropped to 20° F a few times already this fall and no problem.

I did have some heat problems last summer, where it would not turn on until it warmed up in the cab and warmed the Edge unit

Mine turned off this morning and it was only about 40 in the cab. Next time I'm going to see if happens when I first turn on the key or when I actually start the engine. Also, when I plugged it in, for the very first time I've ever seen it ask for the engine size. I entered that and everything else looked normal.

Hi Painted horse,

When you have a chance could you see which firmware is on your unit and post it for us?
Its worth a try on my unit and maybe others.

The Tech set up my serial unit to download a patch that was dated 6/30/11 seems outdated to me.

Thanks Brian.

Thanks Painted Horse,

Got through to them last night and they were very helpful to work this out.

They sent to my unit a beta version 55438 & configuration 3167.

Tried it last night and everything works great now with the remote start no more alarms and unpluging & repluging it in.

I worked with Dekota last night and andrew, very easy to deal with!

Screwy,
I would recommend updating you firmware, By the way once you do the Upgrade with Fusion software DO NOT try to update it afterwards it will resort back to the old firmware, then back to were you started.....
