The po bypassed the water separator, I now have water in my fuel thanks to my fuel caps getting taken and driving through the pouring down rain. Any who, I need it now, and I was wandering if how I should route the lines. Thanks for any input I really appreciate it.
he probably bypassed the water seperator because it leaked, probably a small leak as that seems to be the most common. if you run the lines back to it, it'll probably work well enough to get by until you have clean fuel in there.
you should be able to order an aftermarket water seperator from just about any parts store, and that would be a better long-term solution than hooking up the old one that leaks
and it would be best to drain your tanks and go from there if you think they have much water in there. a few ounces is no big deal, the water seperator will pull that out no problem, but if you think theres like a gallon in there, you really should drain it and start clean
Yeah I doesn't have a whole lot in it, it actually didn't leak accirding to hime he said he did it because they can rot out what ever reason he by passed it for no good reason. Now I took it out to look at it I blew it out. What does the plunger onto do and is there anyway to clean it out? Because I can't find a similar one anywere. How does the 7.3 work with it incorperated into the filter is there anyway that could work?
running without a water trap on a diesel is asking for trouble.
should have asked the po if it he thought it was better to let the water rot out his water trap (cus he wasn't draining it often enough) or let the water do it's damage inside the high cost ip instead lmao.
maybe he thought he'd just get lucky and instead of taking out the $400-500 IP he'd just be out a set of $350 injectors instead?
Thanks man, haha were you getting an ip for 400 to 500?lol yeah atleast injectors are next on my list to replace being over 40k over the recomended replacemnt lol any one got a filter housing for a 7.3 idi kinda like that set up
you can get one from the JY, thats where i got mine, just gotta get a new filter with the water seperator in it and i'm not sure how often to drain it, anyone know?

according to my 1993 diesel fuel supplement book (thank you ebay!) the chart for change intervals on the fuel filter is also 60k miles.
all other places in the chart have "3" which states:
more frequent intervals may be required dependent on fuel quality and vehicle usage.an instrument panel warning light will glow when servicing is required,or when the ignition key is in the START position.
FYI;
for the interval of draining the water fuel bowl (1993 diesel fuel supplement) has an X checked in all of the mile intervals.which means every 5k miles.it also shares the "3".
..........
so in summary;
change the fuel filter at a MAX 60k miles.sooner if you get the light for that.that one simply reads "fuel filter"
drain the bowl every 5k MAX.sooner if you see the light for that.that one reads "water in fuel"
