AODE won't downshift

Hello everybody,
I'm Bastiaan from the Netherlands and drive a 1992 Ford F150 5.0 with a AODE transmission.
I have a problem with that transmission and hope to find some answers on this forum, because here in Holland we can't get the problem solved

Ok here we go:

My transmission won't downshift and want's to drive away in the highest gear.
Manually shifting is no problem and the electronic overdrive works perfectly.

1 out of 10 times when I drive away ( cold ) it will shift up and down like it has to do, but when everything warms up the problem occurs, but most of the time I have to do it manually.

I checked for trouble codes and it says code 621 ( this is shift solenoid number 1 )
We put a voltmeter on the connection of the tranny en measured the solenoids which gave 19 ohm and that seems to be ok.

Could there be a problem with the ECU that maybe doesn't give the right information to the tranny?
I thougt about this but have read somewhere on the internet that these ECU's are interchangeable with older and newer trucks which would mean that they give no orders to the tranny when to shift???

The speedometer works so the truck knows how fast it is running, so I don't think the problem lies here.

Well, anyway, I don't have a clue what to do next and since there are only a handfull of these trucks here in Holland nobody can help me out...
I hope you guys can help me out, I would really appriciate it!

Thanks

The code doesn't just mean the solenoid is bad. It can also mean there is a wiring problem between the ECU and the transmission. Only checking the resistance of the solenoid without checking the continuity of the wiring is only doing half of the job. Is there an open wire, or a wire shorted to power or ground?

Thanks Mark,
Tomorrow I will check the wiring and take out the ecu en clean the connectors, see if that helps.
Since it SOMETIMES runs like it is supposed to I think it has to do something with the wiring, do you agree?
Keep you posted.

Most of the time these type of problems are due to wiring issues.
