I've got a 2011 F250 with the 6.2. I've had it about six months now, and twice since I bought it, I've cranked the truck and the speedometer was about 50 mph off. Reading 50 mph at a dead stop, and reading 100 mph when I'm actually going 50. It did it once about a week after I got it, but the next day it was working normally and has worked fine ever since until tonight. Haven't read about anyone having that exact same problem. Just wondering if it's a common problem with these trucks, and if so, what is the fix for it?
When it started, did the gauges go through their regular startup (min to max to min)? This is the first I've read about this specific issue happening on the '11+ trucks (doesnt mean it isnt happenin' though..). Has it been to the dealer yet?
It does go through?? the normal start up, but the speedometer goes almost all the way back around to zero, then when coming back down it stops at 50 instead of going all the way back down. Haven't taken it to the dealer yet because it has only done it twice in the six months I've had it, today being the second time. Both times I noticed that after switching the truck off and after it sits for a while, when I crank it again it is working normally.
I wouldn't know. I was hoping maybe someone else had experienced the same problem and knew what was causing it. If it would only do it every 6 months, it wouldn't really be a big deal. But I know things like this tend to get worse, not better.
I have never seen that either. I have had my gas gauge not go all the way to full after filling the tank, but after sitting for a little while it was working fine. And that only happened once.
That sounds similar to what my speedometer does. Last night after getting home and switching the truck off, the needle was showing 50 mph. After sitting for maybe 30 min. to an hour, I went outside and it was back at zero and stayed at zero when I cranked it. It worked normally when I drove it this morning.
