I have a 2000 F250 automatic, 7.3.
Yesterday the speedometer starting going crazy. When I drop below around 50 mph, the needle stats jumping around and falls all the way to 0.
It will not move until I get to 50 mph when I start out. When i get to 50 and as long as I maintain a speed above 50 it works fine. Another strange thing also the light on my overdrive flashs all the time. This started at the same time.
Thanks Dave

I have the same issue with my speedo but it occurs only speeds less than 20 mph. I tried to search the forum for previous reports/solutions but with no louck. I'll keep looking and let you know if I find something.
my speedo and tach both start to read about half of what they should be reading after about 1hr of driving...usually it starts with the tach then the speedo will start acting up soon after. but if I stop and shut down the truck and restart everything is fine. I would love to know what causes this! don't know if my problem is the same as yours but I'm going to follow this thread for sure! my OD light works fine though...
I found out the problem with my speedo. The VSS sensor thats mounted on top of the rear diff. was bad. You can replace it in about 10 mins. You can pick one up at the parts store for around 20.00 bucks. Its the only thing with wires hooked up to it on the diff.
Hope this fixes your problem also.
