I changed mine to Michelin LTX after the recall. The BFGoodrich TAs are no longer available. And I love the Michelins on my 5er.
Hey Bob I was told by my local Tire Kingdom that the Commercials are still available I didn't research it, but I have also seen em on different websites still for sale.
Honestly I think the LTX's are just as good or better.
BF Goodrich Said that they were not making any more LT 235 85 R16 LRE in the Commercial TA. They may make other sizes. All sizes were not involved in the recall. The other tire in the recall is LT 245 75 R16 LRE

Hey Bob I finally decided to change out the recalled BFG's on my 5'r.
I went to two tire stores & both told me that when the recall first came out you could replaced the Commercial T/A's with the tire of your choice, but now BFG has caught up on production of the "new and improved" Commercial T/A's and that is my only choice of tire to replace the old ones.
I even had the second store call BFG to double check, and BFG stated that I am getting Commercials installed again.
Not too big of a deal I suppose, I've always had great luck with em
You got lucky and got yours done early.
I'm a slacker, slackers never win...

Well I am happy to hear that they are back up and running with the Commercial T/A's again. I have been wanting a set for my steers and I can't afford the Michelin's. And the fact that you give them a thumbs up is a good thing.
Now come on Frank what do you mean you never win.... didn't you get a upgraded to Michelin's on the truck tires?? That was a huge win for you !! Now how are them Michelins you put on your drive tires working out?? And where it you ended up with tire psi on the DRW ?
Ed I'm thrilled with my Michelin XPS Tractions. They are a tuff tire. I keep 65 psi in them empty & with the camper hooked. They have very little sidewall flex and feel very stable with a load.
The tread makes em a little loud, but nothing like a mud tire. Just a noticeable hum with the Windows down.
When my LTX's wear out on the steer axle I'll be buying the XPS ribs.
Thanks Frank I got all of mine done early in the recall. They told me that the commercial TAs would not be available, I took it as never again. I'm glad they are back in production again I thought they were good tires. I love the michelin LTXs., I can tell a difference between the LTXs and the Commerical TAs, more cornering stability with the LTXs
I was impressed by BFG's extra effort to get their customers taken care of by not making everyone wait for replacement tires. I am sure it added significant cost to the recall, but I believe it helped them keep customers. I will be buying BFG again.

I love BFGoodrich TAs. Had it for 12 years on my previous truck and my current truck runs on Michelin and I hate it! Hate hate hate it. Always had trouble on wet grass and snow. BFGoodrich TAs always gets me out of wet grass and snow. Can't wait for spring time to buy new tires.
Hmm, never heard of the recall on the BFG TA's. I did have 4 of them on my truck and 1st blew out a rear while towing and then discovered busted cords in the other 3. I was near enough to the wear bars that I was going to replace them soon anyway. I think only 35K miles. They were "OK" but now have General Grabbers with 3475 pound rating. First 10K miles have been pretty wonderful.
