I am towing a 5W 11000LBS fully loaded with a F-350 HD 2006 single rear tires.
It is time to replace all 4 tires in the next spring.
I use the truck mostly for towing and side trips mostly on paved surfaces.
What tires would you recommend?
Thanks
I run the Nitto Trail Grapplers and have had good life with them so far. I would think either the Terra GRappler or the Toyo M55 would be a good choice.
I've had good luck with the Firestone Transforce ATs that my dad always had on my truck. Enough tread to get around in mild to medium off-road conditions and snow, but they also run well on the pavement and have endured a lot of miles.
I had a set of Nitto Dura Grapplers, E-rated, 3750#/tire weight rating. Definitely more of a highway design vs. the all season Terra Grapplers. I LOVED 'em! They wore fantastic. Quiet and smooth. Even on the snowy winter roads in Idaho, they had very good traction (IMO). In the summer months, I hauled around my 4000# slide-in truck camper with 3000# ATV trailer behind. In the winter, my ride was mostly a DD, but I did tow a relatively small trailer with a couple of snowmobiles into the snowy backroads without any issue at all.
I have the Nitto Dura Grapplers on my truck and love them.
My truck weighs in at 12,000 lbs everyday and the Nittos made a BIG difference in how good the truck handles.
I am going to put some new ones on the back soon but they have about 45,000 on them.
I recently learned a trick when looking for a stiff sidewall tire for towing after mistakenly buying BFG All Terrains...that's another story.
Put your hands on the tires your interested in and sit on the tire. If it has little give, its a stable tire. If it folds in half ( BFG All Terrains...) you'll regret buying them.
I finally went "top shelf" and bought a set of Michelin XPS Tractions. Best tire I've ever towed with hands down. A bit pricey though.
I've had good luck with the Firestones mentioned above, Michelin LTX's, and BFG commercial TA's also.

This process is known as the basic Butt, tire test.
I run BFG commercial ATs. No frill tire that performs great loaded. My 5er is 9k and I have no issues with squirming or sway. They are usually pretty reasonably priced and usually have a 50k mile warranty.

Did you check to see if your tires fall in the recall. All 10 of mine were recalled ( 6 on truck and 4 0n 5er ). All of mine were replacer with with no charge

Two that were only 6 months old were on the recall and were replaced. I tried to keep them for a hay wagon on the farm but they weren't allowed to give them back to me.

How do you like these on the 5er? A friend of mine uses them on his and he loves them. I am thinking about putting these on mine next time.
