We just bought a fifth wheel, UVW 12,300 lbs. We are considering a 2009 F350 with Contintential Contritrac TR tires which are LT rated. Will these
tires be sufficient for heavy towing or can someone recommend tires for towing a heavy fifth wheel - 10 ply load range.
My F350 came standard with those tires. I had no issues towing with them. Solid highway tire. I live in Michigan and my only complaint about those tires was poor traction in snow or wet grass. I also wasn't pulling the trailer in the snow. I personally prefer the Michelin LTX M/S 2. Better traction and quieter. That's my $.02
Have the Continentals on my 4x4. Pros- Geerman engineered, tow heavy loads down the freeway smoothly and safely without any white knuckles. Seem to wear well. Cons- Yes, they will get stuck in wet grass. For me, I will just avoid the wet grass.
Conti HDR (Drive) and HSR (Steer) are not bad..
I had Michelin LTX in the snow and on the ice in Colorado for a Winter.. Slid all over the place and was doing 360's...

Nor surprised ... as much as I love these Michelin LTX M/S tires, they are a 3 season tire and despite their name, they are not severe weather rated (no mountain/snowflake symbol) and do not do well in real winter conditions on snow, ice and slush like we have here in Canada. I change these LTX's out with a dedicated snow tire (Cooper Arctic Claw) from early December to late March. The difference in winter driving with the Arctic Claw's is quite noticeable.
