Haha my dash is and shall remain un cut and undrilled. Good eye on the wiper and headlight *****, ive got nooo clue what they were from they came with the truck and only those two were those *****. I have since switched over to factory ***** on those two. I have no need for a throttle cable so i was hoping to get some sort of switch or something in there. ill have to look and see what i can find.
I was thinking about using my extra hole to the right of my steering wheel ,to mount an original type switch to power some back up lights. I would mount them in a place hidden from regular view. 1965 F250 4x4
I was going to try to mount a spare headlight switch there but there is no room with the brake pedal return bracket right there. Something the size of a wiper switch would fit. if it matches up with the hole. I was also debating using one of these switches for when i do power door locks but i cant find dimensions on them:
ya i have no use for a throttle cable either it's been 35yrs since i've been around a corn elevator. although i will prbly hook up the throttle cable and make it functional as maybe i'll consider that the 1963 version of cruise control or something. anyway it looks good.
i like rwkinch's idea of a backup light switch. also i've thought about a power point with a repo **** pullout that looks original. shouldn't be to hard to fab something, maybe use a blank cigar lighter and i seem to remember seeing a blank bezel on ebay but may be wrong on that.
Wild horses 4x4 sells a cig lighter that matches our bezels from what i can tell, i havent spent much time on their website looking for switches that might work. SInce i have an electric choke i plan on replacing the choke cable with a longer one so i can run a ranger valve mod but i cant think of uses for 2 cables
well i tried to think of what ***** i like on my newer cars i don't have on my street legal tractor. rear window defrost- i see you're from california pbly no need for that. fuel door opener- kinda neat i guess, trailer switch- good for a livestock trailer but i bet not applicable in your case, darn that a tough one.
i put a throttle **** in mine. no clue what was original equipment but it matches everything else (i.e wipers, cigar lighter, lights etc). you'll need it if you ever want to run your corn elevator off the pto on the truck. edt: btw i have the same style dash as you.
I was thinking backup lights as well if I can get a switch in. You're right there's not much else I could put it in. I do have an switch panel that's going in the headliner but nothing on there is anything that could be done with a cable. Guess ill just have to find a switch that fits
I bought a Cargo switch.. I believe this switch was used in the late 60's on ford trucks for a light that went on the back of the cab. The switch has a chrome bezel that says "cargo" and matches the chrome bezels on my other switches. This switch also has a lighted red center , so that the back up lights will not be left on accidently. Maybe some of the senior members can fine tune this idea with part numbers ( years ) etc.. but for what I wanted..this switch is perfect and will blend right in with all the other switches.. [/IMG]

I installed the same switch as in rwkinch's picture, along with a cargo bed light I found in a late 60s - early '70s junk yard Ranger, in my '66. It looks pretty good, but not perfect as it's a little oversized. Also, when installing, you have to do a tiny bit of dash surgery as the mounting tangs that hold it in place are just the opposite of how things were in '65 - '66. rwkinch, cargo bed lights and switches were not offered by the factory in '65 - '66.
