Hey Guys I ordered a TS 6 position chip for my truck Sat. and I would like to see where everyone was putting there switch. My dash is perfect and I do not want to drill holes in it.
I put mine in the dash bezel just to the right of the steering column, but I know what you guys mean about not wanting to drill the dash. I had thought about getting a 4 gauge pillar pod instead of a 3, and get a plug for the bottom gauge hole and drill it for the switch, but I didn't.
this is one of my reservations for getting a chip. none of the switches i have seen look like they belong. i loke mods that look like they could have possibly come from the factory.
When i order my DP im going to put it in the ashtray.... I feel like i want to hide it so no one messes w it. But, if you don't want to butcher your dash aren't those panels where the WTS light replaceable? You could just ebay one, or the cubby hole too...
I think the dash bezel is a popular place, Mine is already all cut up (it was out of a gasser so I had to cut the hole for the WTS lights) But the original one every last retaining clip on the back was broken, so I think I'll end up putting it there. Its just kinda there now.
Mine's in the same place as Bill's (Bill actually mounted it there for me while I was working on something else...lol), but I'm with Corey - I really wanted to take out the cigarette lighter and put it there, so you could close up the ash tray and not see it. Unfortunately, the stock cable with the TS chip isn't long enough to make it over there from the PCM. I'm happy with it where it is.
Ive heard people putting it in the ash tray. As stated previously the cable wont reach the lighter port. I am unsure if those who have put it in the ash tray had to lengthen the cable or not.
(not a pic of our truck, but you get the idea).
If you have an extra slot in pillar gauges this wouldnt be too bad.
I feel as if the column gauge pod would be a bit in the way for a switch, but its an option.
...My dash is perfect and I do not want to drill holes in it.
Take a small piece of metal and mount it to one of the screws that hold the lower corners of the lower dash on. It will barely be visible there and no dash cutting. If you want it invisible just bend that tab up to where it's hidden under the dash facing down and still easy to use. I've also seen where guys with power windows but no power mirrors mount it in the window switch panel where the power mirror adjust would be.
I also like where you put yours Todd, and I would like to see more pics of where you guys are putting them.
How often do you guys that have them change positions? That could make a difference for those that would like to conceal them. I would imagine they get changed often when you first get your chip
