On my truck, there is a factory plug, two wires coming out of the drivers side headlight harness, just in front of the drivers side battery, stuck into a factory plug cover on a clip into the bulkhead. Appears one wire is hot all the time......did not get the colors yet......headlight switch does nothing to the wires.
Wire colors are one yellow w/black sripe and one orange with green stripe.

Like suggested already I think it is the connector that would plug into the DRL resistor if there was one. If you don't have DRL you would not have the resistor but was pre-wired for DRL
Pic of the DRL resistor and the connector unplugged. The DRL resistor is inside the black heat shield cage. The connector looks like what you have pictured. The wire was too dirty to really see the colors but I think is was what you described.
Now to go back out and replace the battery.
Edit: Ignore all the extra wires you see. That is my doing.
